Leon York Heating - Looking to get a new boiler? We offer FREE Quotes - Leicester Based Business

At Leon York Heating, we don't offer a one price fits all when it comes to quoting for a new boiler* or central heating system as homes and properties can have various differences.

We are Central Heating and Boiler Installation Specialists

From the size of the property to the number of rooms that require some works to the age of the current central heating system, there can be numerous things to take into consideration.

Some central heating upgrades and boiler swaps may take relatively little time.
For example, if it is a simple process of a straight swap compared to those that have tanks, old systems and need for a change around, it would never be fair to offer the 'average' as this would ensure a large variation of over / underquoting for all involved.

We are Leicester based specialists in central heating design and new boiler installation with the knowledge and experience to be able to assess your requirements which will enable us to offer you a realistic quote specific to your requirements.

*We do offer a handy tool on our website where you can get an online quote for a boiler only in the same place without any other works to be carried out.

We offer FREE quotes in Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Nottingham

Leon York Heating - #BoilerSwitchOnWeek Things to do before switching on your heating ...

The last few weeks we have felt the temperatures begin to drop and now we welcome #BoilerSwitchOnWeek and with temperatures set to drop further still, it’s worth doing everything in your power to up the energy efficiency of your household before you flick the switch.
Below are five simple things you can do to cut your energy bills before you crank the heating into overdrive...

1. Get your boiler serviced

Boilers account for around 55% of our yearly energy spend, so it’s well worth making sure yours is ship-shape and ready for battle before we hit the colder months.  Not only does a full service help your boiler run as efficiently as possible to save on heating costs, it also future-proofs your system for the winter ahead. There’s nothing quite as stressful as having your heating go kaput in the middle of a big freeze, and many central heating issues often develop from minor, fixable faults. Getting a service helps spot those small problems that could turn into major ones – potentially saving you thousands of pounds and an awful lot of shivering.

2. Go draught hunting

Draughts are the enemy of the energy saving household. Unwanted gaps leak all your lovely warm air through doors, windows and walls while ushering in an arctic gale from the great outdoors, meaning it’s well worth spending time exploring your house to locate and block up any breezy weak-spots. For windows, draught-proofing strips can fill the gap between window and frame, while doors are even easier - simple steps like adding a keyhole cover or a letterbox flap can make a huge difference.

3. Insulate your loft

Like gas and electricity prices, heat has a habit of rising. Up and up it goes and where it stops - well, that’s up to you. If you’re living in a house with an uninsulated loft a quarter of your heat is lost through your roof: that’s one in four of your hard-earned pounds evaporating into thin air, with you left shivering downstairs wondering why you can still see your breath. Even if you’ve already got minimal insulation, upping it can dramatically slash your heating bills. Like giving your house a money-saving, environmentally-friendly woolly hat.

4. Install Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Do you really need that spare bedroom that you never go in to be as warm as your living room or kitchen? Heating the whole house to the same temperature is a huge waste of energy. Installing thermostatic radiator valves in each room allows you to control the flow of water to individual radiators dependant on a target temperature, ensuring that you’re not wasting heat where it’s not needed by keeping unoccupied rooms unnecessarily toasty.

5. Draw the curtains.

Simple, but effective. A good thick set of curtains, when drawn, can do wonders when you’re feeling the chill, trapping heat and insulating windows from the cold outside. It might make the room a bit gloomy, but you’ll more than make up for it with your sunny outlook once you see the cost of your heating plummet.

Leon York Heating - Helping you stay Gas Safe this Gas Safety Week (16th - 22nd September 2019)

In support of Gas Safety Week (16-22 September 2019), Leon York Heating are participating in Gas Safety Week 2019 to inform the public of gas safety issues and to remind everyone of the importance of having an annual gas safety check by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

This Gas Safety Week we are informing the public of a wide range of gas safety matters throughout the week. This includes how to help your vulnerable loved ones to stay gas safe, what to do if you suspect your gas engineer is an illegal fitter, and advise not to DIY when it comes to gas and leave it to the expert engineers from the Gas Safe Register.

Gas appliances that have not properly been maintained can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Carbon monoxide is known as the ‘silent killer’ because you can’t see, smell or taste it. Therefore, it is highly important to have your gas appliances checked by an engineer who is on the Gas Safe Register.

“It is our job to make sure that people’s gas appliances are operating safely and efficiently. In some instances, people do not know the signs and symptoms of faulty gas appliances and carbon monoxide poisoning. Because of this, we are supporting Gas Safety Week in order to alert the public of the seriousness of unsafe gas appliances and how they can keep themselves and their families safe.”

Jonathan Samuel, chief executive for Gas Safe Register, said: “Unsafe gas appliances can be fatal, and not being aware of these dangers can cause you and your family harm. This Gas Safety Week we have the support of Leon York HEating and by working together we can keep the public informed of gas safety and help reduce the risk of dangerous gas appliances across the UK.”

Top tips on how to stay Gas Safe this Gas Safety Week:

·         Know the symptoms of CO poisoning; headaches, nausea, breathlessness, collapse, dizziness and loss of consciousness.

·         If you smell gas or think there might be a gas leak, call the free 24-hour national gas emergency number immediately on 0800 111 999.

·         Never attempt to work on a gas appliance yourself, always seek the help of a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer who can work on your gas cooker, boiler or fire in a safe way.

·         Don’t cut corners - only employ a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer when having gas work carried out in your home.

·         Always ask to see your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card. Make sure you check the back of the card, which will state which gas appliances they are qualified to work on.

Gas Safe Register is the official register for legally qualified engineers. You can find a registered engineer in your area by visiting the Gas Safe Register website at www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk or by calling on 0800 408 5500.

Gas Safe Register is the registration body appointed by the Health and Safety Executive to manage the register of qualified gas engineers in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey. It is a legal requirement for anyone carrying out domestic and commercial gas work to be registered and comply with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998. The register of more than 130,000 gas engineers held by Gas Safe Register aims to protect people from unsafe gas work. Gas Safe Register assesses the competence of engineers by inspecting the gas work they have carried out to make sure they are safe to work on gas. Gas Safe Register is focused on gas safety and campaigns to raise awareness of gas safety risks associated with using illegal gas workers.

Gas Safe Register deals with all aspects of the downstream gas industry covered by the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. It covers both piped natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Gas Safe Register replaced the CORGI gas registration scheme in Great Britain and Isle of Man on 1 April 2009.www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk
